<span style="font-size: large;">Hell was let loose at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts yesterday after a wife stormed the wedding between her husband and his girlfriend.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #606569; font-family: "open sans", arial, sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 1.857em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<span style="font-size: large;">The wife identified as Magdalene Chamunorwa showed up at the courts in the company of her relatives and thoroughly beat up the said girlfriend.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #606569; font-family: "open sans", arial, sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 1.857em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<span style="font-size: large;">She revealed to the shocked marriage officer, Mr Tendai Mahwe, that the groom, Gift Singano, was her husband and that they had four children.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #606569; font-family: "open sans", arial, sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 1.857em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<span style="font-size: large;">According to The Herald, she stormed into the wedding room moments before Singano exchanged vows with Francisca Kanyama. The free drama was taken outside the court building where Chamunorwa exchanged blows with Kanyama, who was still clad in her wedding gown.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #606569; font-family: "open sans", arial, sans-serif; margin: 0px 0px 1.857em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<span style="font-size: large;">The fight happened in full view of Singano who watched helplessly as his wife and <em style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">“mistress”</em> got down to<em style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">“business”</em>. Onlookers, who were attending to their court businesses, cheered the fight and accused Kanyama of being a husband snatcher. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Mr Mahwe cancelled the wedding after Chamunorwa proved that she was still married to Singano<em style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">. “He is my husband and we got married in 1992 in Chiendambuya,”</em> she said.</span></div>

He has not divorced me. I only discovered that he wanted to marry his girlfriend when I saw a profile picture of her on his phone. We stay together in our matrimonial house in Crowborough here in Harare but he leaves me in the house and goes to co-habit with his girlfriend in Mufakose.”</span></em></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Singano confirmed that he has four children with Chamunorwa, but submitted that he divorced her five years ago. <em style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">“We divorced in 2011 because she was too violent and I decided to end the marriage and left the house,”</em> he said.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">In his ruling, Mr Mahwe said: “<em style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">The facts show that the marriage still subsists because the formal customary procedure to divorce a woman, which is known as ‘gupuro’ or a token of divorce was not done. <strong><span style="font-size: large;">1. Superman to the rescue</span></strong></div>

<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This Nigerian man trended on social media when he ‘flew’ to the Murtala Muhammed Airport in a Superman costume to propose to his girlfriend. She had just arrived in Nigeria after traveling outside the country. I personally find this too corny but hey, that’s just me.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">A certain Adeagbo Rasheed, who used to work at Domino’s Pizza in Ibadan, decided to propose to his girlfriend at his former workplace. She was a customer while he was on duty when they first met. Quite creative, don’t you think? </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Last year, now married couple Dolapo and Kunle trended on social media when Kunle decided to pop the question at a Surulere polling unit while they were about to vote. <div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">In 2012, Russian Alexey Bykov hired a scriptwriter, director, stuntmen and make up artists to fake his own death for his grand proposal to his girlfriend. He had planned to meet his girlfriend at a particular spot. However, when she got there she met ambulances, carnage and her boyfriend covered in blood lying face down on the street, seemingly dead. Luckily for Alexey, his girlfriend said yes when he eventually ‘came back to life’ and proposed.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three men for allegedly r*ping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl in the Agric, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.</span></div>

</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The victim has been identified as Ijeoma and was allegedly r*ped in August 2016, after the mother went for a vigil. The primary 6 pupil was discovered to be pregnant, and she reported the matter to the police at the Owutu division.</span></div>

</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The police said the three men were arrested on September 9, 2016.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Explaining how she was r*ped, Ijeoma said:<em> “It was Uncle Kingsley (Oke) who first raped me. On that evening, he called me and said he would send me on an errand. When I went to his room, he immediately locked the door.</em></span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“I started begging him, but he forcefully carried me to his bed and r*ped me. On the second occasion, it was one man called Baba Ijebu that molested me. I had been sent to his house to collect an item.</span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“While in his house, he r*ped me. I cried, but he said I would die if I told anyone. The third man was Henry (Osadere). I don’t want to talk about it again.”</span></em></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">However, Osadere, 43 has denied the allegation. He said:<em> “She came to my place and said she had many boyfriends. I asked how a teenager like her had several boyfriends. Anytime she came to my apartment, she would steal some items. That was why I sent her away.</em></span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“I was surprised that she said I was one of those who raped her. She said she had a three-month-old pregnancy. I don’t know the other suspects.The girl lied against me. She knows the people who messed around with her. It was because I stopped her from coming to my house that she lied against me.”</span></em></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Oke, 30, a welder, said,<em> “I have known the girl since 2014. She usually came to my house to play. She is a wayward girl. Everyone knows about her promiscuity. I never raped her.”</em></span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Ekwe, 52, said Ijeoma and her mother had begged him in August to borrow them some money, which he did, adding that he did not r*pe the girl. The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the suspects would be charged to court at the end of investigations.</span></div>

</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">It was gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday on Agbose Street in the Ebute, Ipakodo area around 5am.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">It was learnt that policemen from the Ipakodo division removed the victims’ corpses.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The wife and the injured daughters were said to have been rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Punch Metro reports that the two deceased sons were three years old and two months old.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">A resident of Ebute, who visited the scene, but did not want his name in print, said the attackers were suspected to be sent.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">He said, <em>“The man’s house is located on Agbose Street, off Oluodo Junction. He worked at a taxi park in the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja. The killers came on Thursday morning. They shot him and all the members of his family. He and two male children died instantly, while they left his wife and the two daughters with bullet injuries.</em></span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“The attackers were not robbers; they went to only the man’s apartment. I was told that they did not take away any property. That is why everyone suspects that the killers were sent. They shot all members of his family presumably, so that no one would be able to report to the police.</span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“But policemen from the Ipakodo division later came to our area to take photographs and remove the bodies. The policemen were all over our area.”</span></em></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">A landlord, identified only as Abimbola, told Punch Metro that the attackers could also be suspected rapists, known popularly in the area as Badoo, who had been terrorising and attacking residents.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><em> “A week ago, a man and his child were attacked and stabbed to death in the Oke-Awori community in the Ibeshe area. Armed rapists, known as Badoo, attacked the man and his child. They stabbed them to death. So, I suspect the attackers of Nwokoye could be Badoo. The police have a lot of work to do in our area,”</em> he added.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">A police source said Nwokoye and his family members were attacked on the premises of a church in the area.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the deaths.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">She added that the command had got some leads on the incident, and investigation was ongoing.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">She said, <em>“There was a report that the man and all members of his family were found in a pool of blood. He and his two male children were confirmed dead.</em></span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“His wife and two daughters were also seriously injured and they have been taken to a hospital for treatment.</span></em></div>
<div>

<div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Speaking to a correspondent, a police source said the 43-year-old Believe and the victim’s mother had searched for the child, including reporting a case of missing person at a police station.</span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“The suspect and the girl’s mother are sisters. Believe, however, colluded with her friend, Aigbomiam, to abduct the girl so that she could make money from the mother.</span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;">“Their plan was that the friend would kidnap the child and hide her somewhere in Ogun State, while she would negotiate the ransom with the mother on the phone.</span></em></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><em>“When the girl went missing, the girl’s mother called her and they both searched for the girl. She even suggested that they should report the case to the police. The mother never suspected that she was behind the kidnap,” </em>he said.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The source said while people were looking for the girl, the suspect was also trailing the movement of her friend and the victim on the phone, adding that the kidnapped girl, while in captivity, raised the alarm that Aigbomiam was not her mother and called for help from some Ogun residents, who came to her aid.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The matter was said to have been reported to a community leader, who invited the police. <em>“When the police discovered that Aigbomiam was not alone in the crime and she was receiving calls from Believe, they decided to play along. They asked her to invite Believe to Ogun State.</em></span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><em>“It was when she arrived that the police arrested her. The case was subsequently transferred to Lagos State where the offence was committed. That was where the mother of the girl saw that her own sister was behind her ordeal,” </em>the source said.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The suspects, who were paraded before journalists at the police command headquarters in Ikeja on Thursday, confessed to the crime and said she hoped to make N30,000 from the kidnap, adding that she needed the money for a business.</span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><em>“I have my own children. I needed money badly that time and I thought of different ideas, which didn’t work. So, I decided to kidnap my sister’s daughter and demand N30,000 ransom from her. I involved my friend because I didn’t want to be the one to take the girl from school. I don’t know what came over me,” </em>she said.</span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The 42-year-old trader, Aigbomiam, a from Ekpoma, Edo State, said Believe asked her to kidnap the victim after she returned from a surgery in Benin.</span></div>
<div>
<em><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></em></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><em>“She said she wanted to use the girl to collect some money from her sister. She just showed me the girl’s school and I kidnapped her around 7.30am on Tuesday, while she was going to school. I took her to my relative’s house in Ogun State. I was stupid for doing such a thing.”</em> </span></div>
