In what will come across as a really weird development, a family has welcomed a girl born for the first time in more than a hundred years.
The newborn baby girl
A family is celebrating the first birth of a baby girl in their lineage for 101 years.
The Underdahl family have not the gift of a female child for more than a century – and the new parents to little Auerelia are stunned with her arrival.
Ashton Underdahl and her husband Scott welcomed their new baby on April 12 in Post Falls, Idaho, USA, – the family’s first since 1914.
Auerelia comes as a little sister to almost-two-year-old Archer.

“I wasn’t mentally prepared for a girl,” Ashton said.

Although the family’s male history was clear, they had no idea how long it had been since they’d heard the pitter patter of female feet until Ashton’s father-in-law dug a little deeper – and realised the lengthy wait.
“Everything was just sort of rooting for a girl,” the new mum added.
Now she’s part of the Underdahls, though, Auerelia is bound to get the princess treatment.
“They are just sweet. Girls are sweet,” Mum proudly added.
