The Enugu state House of Assembly is set to probe former governor, Sullivan Chime over allegations of mismanagement of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The lawmakers have already set up a seven-man committee to carry out the probe. The committee include Ozo Sunday Ude-Okoye, Philip Nnamani, Christian Nwamba, Obinna Okenwa, Nkechi Omeje-Ogbu, Ezenta Ezeani and John Ukuta.
Their job also includes looking into the activities of the former Chairman, Enugu State Board of Internal Revenue, Felix Chime between 2008 and June 2016. Vanguard reports that the House decided on the probe after it was flooded with petitions over alleged shady deals regarding IGR during Chime’s tenure between 2008 and 2015, and after it also made discoveries of pilfering of state’s resources within the period.
A lawmaker representing Enugu South Urban Constituency, Hon Obinna Okenwa, had appealed to the House to quickly look into the matter, following several petitions from members of the public claiming that Felix Chime and other principal officers of the BIR diverted huge sums from the state’s IGR between 2008 and June 2016 for their private use.
