Total Humiliation: You Won't Believe the Punishment a Man Received for Cheating in Sokoto

A man who had the nerve to engage in cheating acts in a Sokoto State community, has received punishment for the deed.  

A man identified as Sani Idris of Gidan Igwai area of Sokoto, has been humiliated in public for cheating.

The man received 10 strokes of the cane and sentenced to three months imprisonment by a Sharia Court in Sokoto, for cheating.  

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the court announced the ruling on Friday after Idris had pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of cheating his friend, Hassan Muhammad.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Lawal Garba, told the court that Muhammad of Central Motor Park, Sokoto, lodged a complain against the convict at Kwannawa Police Station. 

He said that the convict had diverted three mobile phones, a radio set and some memory cards valued at N 45,000, placed in his care by the complainant.

When his plea was taken, Idris pleaded guilty and sought for leniency.

The Khadi, Alhaji Faruk Ibrahim, ordered Idris to receive 10 lashes and serve three months in jail.

He however gave him the option to pay N 5,000 fine in addition to the 10 lashes.
