Adebayo Cosmos, a landlord, who allegedly broke into his tenant’s room in his absence, was on Wednesday brought before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun.
According to NAN, the 50-year-old is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, housebreaking and forceful entry.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Monday Ojiezele, told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 7 at Parakin area of Ile-Ife.
Ojiezele said the accused conspired with a man still at large to break into the apartment of Leke Babasanya, a tenant, by destroying the padlock with intent to commit felony.
The offence contravened Sections 410, 411 (1), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Johnson Williams, urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms, saying he will not jump bail.
In his ruling, Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Ijiyode said the surety reside within the court’s jurisdiction and also provide two recent passport-size photographs.
He adjourned the case until May 24 for hearing.
