Top relationships in the Nigerian entertainment industry that we didn’t think would crash
Dating or being married can be such a beautiful experience. However, relationships have their limitations. For one, there is no such thing as a perfect relationship. All relationships have their limitations, there are individual differences, family challenges could come to play, trust can be broken, and so many more things could threaten the success of the relationship. Making it through to the end, could be tough and it requires a whole lot of conscious force by both parties.
However, sometimes, it just doesn’t work no matter what and the only way for peace to reign and for further damage to be prevented, is a break in the toxic relationship. Still, some broken relationships come as a shock to us. In the Nigerian entertainment industry, some relationships seem so perfect that when they don’t work, they leave the most of us confused and in shock.
Here are some of the top relationships that we didn’t believe would come crashing down.
Genevieve Nnaji and D’banj
This combination of superstars was so unexpected and it was entirely hard to believe at some point. Even when he featured the beauty in one of his music videos, we still felt it was some publicity stunt. It took the musician gushing over his love for the actress on social media, before we could believe it. However, as wonderful a match as it seemed, it barely lasted long enough to get serious. We didn’t see the match coming and we didn’t see the breakup coming either.
Damilola Adegbite and Chris Attoh
Nigerian actress weds Ghanaian actor, is one thing that the entire African entertainment industry gushes about. The relationship started off with a blast, and soon they were married. We even took our time to get used to calling her Damilola Attoh. Even after a son together, their decided that a divorce was the best option.
Faithia and Saidi Balogun
Marrying within the entertainment industry is one thing. But marrying where both partners are not just Nollywood actors but also act in the same niche – Yoruba movies – was certainly a risky move. Still, we believed that these two had what it took to make it work. Sadly, a divorce still took place. It even got so bad that Saheed came out to complain about how the actress still used his surname. What was she to do? Go back to her maiden name? The complexities of a breakup though.
Kate Henshaw and Rod Nuttal
Another international union, this one was also unexpected. Roderick Nuttal, who is a Briton and the managing director of Ledrop Nigeria ltd, was married to the stunning veteran actress. Off the surface, things could not seem any more perfect. However, their divorce after over a decade of marriage, was enough pointer that not all that glitters is gold. They said it was as a result of irreconcilable differences and rumour has it that Mr Nuttal has even gone ahead to remarry.
Lilian Esoro and Ubi Franklin
Last on our list is the love story that turned sour sooner than we expected. Lilian Esoro is a stunning and super talented Nigerian Actress, while Ubi Franklin is the CEO of Made Men Music Group and one heck of a money maker. Their relationship was beautiful and it stirred up social media. The pictures were great and the wedding celebration was beautiful. However, the wedding is always the easiest part of any marriage. The union ended very abruptly as a divorce happened sooner than we ever imagined. Theirs is one that was a real shocker.
